In order to facilitate ease of play between ladder members of the different clubs, the Fitness Centre and the Canada Games Complex have each offered to host one Nor'Westers Squash Ladder Night per month.

On the first Friday of each month, the CGC will reserve two courts between 6 pm to 9 pm for use by ladder members. On these nights only, all ladder members playing ladder matches will be admitted free of charge.

On the third Sunday of each month, the Fitness Centre will reserve two courts between 5 pm to 8 pm for use by ladder members. On these nights only, all CGC members* playing ladder matches will be admitted free of charge.

Courts are available on a first come-first served basis.

If you have never played in a squash ladder before, it's great fun. New players can find other beginners to play, and advanced players can find challenging opponents.

Regardless of where you start on the ladder, after a period of time, you will end up playing opponents of similar ability. As you improve, you are likely to move up the ladder and play against tougher opponents.

There is no official start date for the ladder -- players are free to join at any time, and can change their status from "active" to "resting" as is convenient.

If you play squash in Thunder Bay, consider signing up! In fact, encourage a friend to do the same!

You will have noticed a points score appear next to player names on the rankings page (if logged in). This is a trial points rating system based on the classic Elo system. Players will be awarded points for winning and lose points for losing depending on how difficult the system calculates your opponent to be. It will take a few games to settle down the scoring system. Currently the rating is displayed for information purposes only but in future it will be possible to arrange the ladder ranking system around this points score.
